Inspiration & Process

I drew inspiration from a tourist poster created by an Israeli graphic designer in 1936 titled “Visit Palestine.” Because of the irony present in the original design given the incongruence between the idyllic imagery and darker impact, countless artists since have recreated this poster to subvert the messaging in support of Palestine. I chose to create my own version of the original poster because it felt fitting to this tradition of satire in particular. I also added a subtle message in the leaves that may be unnoticeable at first glance.
